"BUNGE" FIRES ITS CHAIRMAN OVER EXTORTION CLAIMS.
Story by Joel Eshikumo- Editor
In a letter dated 27th January and signed by Bunge's top cream, the chairman is accused of 'impropriety and misbehaving' among other shortcomings.
The letter with reference Number bhum/g/1/2022, states as follows "Following an executive meeting by the organisation, we have decided to suspend you with immediate effect".
The executive meeting further accuses Bonny Manda of misuse of the group's funds and using the the Organisation's name for self gain.
"He has used the name of the Organisation and his office as Chairman to solicit and receive money from top county officials including Former Clerk Laban Atemba, Accountant Pascal Mohanje, former Majority leader Joel Ongoro and Speaker Morris Buluma" said our source.
BHUM Secretary General Musa Ekaya who is part of the group executive team that suspended the Chairman.
Investigations point to a dangerous trend where the organisation, credited with the fight for well being of cane farmers and tax payers has of late been painted as a cash cow thanks to the chairman.
The letter signed by the vice Chairman Desterio Okumu, Secretary General Musa Ekaya, Organisation Secretary Ibrahim Muchelule and Treasurer Tawakal Burhan states the disgraced Chair will be given 21 days to defend himself against the accusations.
AN insider in the executive meeting confided to this blog that the Chairman had also abdicated his duty and took to collecting money from politicians and executives for personal use.
"He had turned the group into a toll station and that is why we decided to lay bare all the things he did to redeem the image of BHUM and take it back on the principals it was formed, strictly check public officers" said the source.
Contacted for comment I his predicament Boniface Manda promised to call to narrate his part of the story but by the time we went to the press he had not called.
