ABOLISHING CDF: WHO WANTS TO BE MP WITHOUT THE MONEY?

Image
Opinion 𝐁𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐞  Following a recent ruling by a three-judge bench declaring the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) unconstitutional, widespread concerns have arisen regarding the future of the fund, which is scheduled to cease operations by June 30, 2026. The court ruled that the NG-CDF violates the principle of separation of powers, as the management of development funds by MPs directly infringes on the mandate of the executive. For over two decades, the CDF has played a critical role in shaping development at the constituency level. Some good MPs have used the fund to drive infrastructural improvements, build schools, health centers, and roads, and provide bursaries to needy students, particularly in marginalized regions. This has made the CDF’s contributions to grassroots development undeniable, as it allowed more direct and localized development compared to relying solely on the central government. However, the fund has no

ASSEMBLY: GOVERNOR BARASA MUST SAY NO TO ODM BULLIES.

Image
OPINION By James Kwoma.  The alleged changes at the Kakamega County Assembly by the ODM Party’s Central Committee are surprising, as the party's constitution provides no provision for the committee to enact such changes.  However, they cease to be surprising when viewed as wishful thoughts of Sifuna and his group of anarchists, whose primary aim is to frustrate Governor Barasa's standing within the party and divert attention from his sights on Service Delivery, with the hope that their Anti-development Elsie Muhanda can fool her way to the Governor's office.  First and foremost, Governor Fernandes Barasa is the head of the Executive arm of the Kakamega County Government, of which the County Assembly is party of. However, as outlined in Chapter 11 of the 2010 Constitution—something we expect Sifuna, as a lawyer, to understand—the County Assembly operates independently of the Executive. No reasonable Kenyan, especially a Kenya School of Law graduate, can hold the

THREATS: LET NO ONE "FINYA MAKENDE" OF JOURNALISTS.

Opinion by  Joel Eshikumo.  LAST WEEK, I took time off my busy schedule to browse thru social media walls and holes to catch up after being AWOL serving in my current position.  My target naturally when I go online is, first, walls occupied by strict colleagues in the media fraternity and fellow bloggers running registered blogs, then lastly I read the usual mouths for hire yelling praises to anything that can send a penny and abusing those they think are threats to the "income"......... In that order.  A story caught my attention, that  The  P eople   Daily  Newspaper correspondent based in Kakamega Douglas Dindi had recorded statements with police over "Threats" to his life.  I know Dindi personaly, a stickler to detail, a seasoned social commentator, a fine writer and like me, a rude crack-head who protects his job as chicken does chicks.  That Dindi had been threatened " kufinywa makende " by Dr. David Alila the Kakamega Chief Officer for Medical Serv

THESE ARE GUV BARASA'S MISTAKES

Image
"Refusing to be manipulated like a puppet by his predicesor and cartels was his major undoing"  IN the run up to the 2022 general elections, EX Governor Whyclife Oparanya who is deputy Party leader ODM, settled for FCPA Fernandes Barasa as his successor. The former would go on to throw his then Deputy Philip Kutima under the political bus to the chagrin of most Kabras( if how they voted that year is anything to go by). With a war chest to boot, FCPA Fernandes Barasa launched a massive campaign across Kakamega selling himself as a resource Manager and a trust worthy person who was "able to handle a huge budget in Ketracco" and that Kakamega's 17B was nothing to manage. Fast forward after winning, unbeknown to him, Governor Barasa started to chart his path as county boss allighning every of his move in tandem with his six piece agenda in the campaign.  Like anybody else, Elections were over and behind us and what he was supposed to do was to deliver on

HON. NABULINDO IS STILL THE MAN TO BEAT

Image
FOR the last couple of weeks, small small events that have a direct bearing on the future of Matungu Constituency politics have acted as pointers to one direction.  A charlatan Anerico Chitayi who once sought to be Elected as an MCA in Mayoni ward was beaten to pulp by a mob after he was accosted trying to con an MPesa agent.  Chitayi falsely reffered to by his connish peers as honourable dispite being horrible, happens to belong to a self proclaimed group or caucus that is critical on Honourable Peter Oscar Nabulindo the MP.  Honourable Nabulindo with PCS Musalia Mudavadi at the Matungu By election when he won resoundingly after the death of Hon. Omurunga.  Another small incident is that of a local leader, a critic to Honourable Nabulindo being photographed in beer dens cuddling small girls and playing with their breasts amid beer binges.  Such acts by people expected to offer alternative leadership to the voters in Matungu by raising tangible issues only help

SHAME OF BUTERE SCHOOL AS MP SLAYS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Image
A PACK of liers are on the prawn on social media to continously, with ounces of silver, paint a grim picture rossy. Offering cheap labour, the said false prophets spend entire days and hours of their waking time yelling how Butere MP Tindi Mwale is "delivering". In their choreographed lies, the parrots most who have never stepped in Butere itself and only see it on the Kakamega map, blindly spin the lies forwarded to them by their pay master. At  @eshikumo2030 , we are set to debunk the lies and expose fallacies that are crammed down throats of gullible readers from dusk to dawn by cheap labourours who are ready to hurl epithets at constructive critics.  It is a shame that these so called spinners are too blind and shameless like their master Tindi Mwale as they parrot their unrefined commentaries to hold people captive to deceit  Foolhardy and cant.  Next time you see these unrefined verbiage and half truths published by these slaves for their master,

JUNIOR SECONDARY HEADACHE EXPLAINED.

Image
By Mwalimu Amunga Akhanyalabandu  1) staffing. For Junior secondary to have enough Diploma and Degree teachers; TSC should hire 32,200× 7 teachers per school which translates to 225,400 teachers in three years.  The wage bill will be 127.4 B. Per year. Wisdom will dictate that  it would have been cheaper for JSS to be hosted in secondary  schools than in primary schools. 2) Most sec schools including the one I am the BOM CHAIR had constructed JSS classes and Dorms.  Hence they had prepared for JSS. Others had divided their schools into JSS and SSS. Sec schools have labs Workshops Theaters and tuition  rooms for JSS, 8.4.4 and SSS. COMPARED to primary Primary schools most are empty shells. They lack play grounds.Science and comp Labs . Workshops. Libraries . ICT centres . Theatres . Lecture halls. It's foolhardy someone to think that Junior secondary schools learners shall be moving daily from primary  schools to nearby sec school for science practicals. Confusion.   Thi

BARASA SHOULD IGNORE OPARANYA AND SAVULA IN FORMING HIS GOVERNMENT.

Image
The people of Kakamega have elected Barasa as Governor. Oparanya has served his two terms and retired. Savula can wait and win the next election and be governor. It is Fernandes Barasa to deliver to the people of Kakamega and not Oparanya nor Savula. Barasa should avoid temptations to appoint a cabinet that will have former ministers under Oparanya. If he does this mistake, those ministers and chief officers will be loyal to Oparanya and not to him. This way he won't deliver as they will be picking instructions from Oparanya. Fernandes Barasa, don't return the Oparanya ministers in your government..start afresh as a new governor . Please ignore Savula as he did not deliver votes  Just go into your house and appoint new ministers and chief officers from all the 12 constituencies . The worst that can happen to you is an impeachment . The only person who can impeach you is Oparanya...but if he tries that, Savula becomes governor and that will be worse for him. That mean

WHY THE POPULOUS KABRAS PREFER MALALA THAN BARASA.

Image
As my all time Presidential candidate Raila Odinga campaigns in Kakamega today this must be clear to him that; From 2013 Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya Developed A Negative Attitude Towards The Kabras And Refused To Rebrand Himself To Suit Their Political Needs After the late former Minister Honourable Peter Soita floored Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya in Malava Constituency during the gubernatorial election of Kakamega of 2013, the latter developed an incurable bias towards the Kabras. Oparanya's negative political attitude against the Kabras enveloped further when in 2013 general election the said Kabras refused to heed his call to remain with him in ODM and followed MUSALIA MUDAVADI to UDF. In the political mind of Oparanya the Kabras are politically elevating Mudavadi above him. Primarily Wycliffe Oparanya willifully believes that Kabras is the cardiac muscle of the opposition within Kakamega in particular to his rise to National politics. That is why Oparanya intentionally,

HOW OUTSIDERS CALL SHOTS IN TEAM BARASA. As locals are reduced to abusing people on social media with meagre rewards.

Image
As if he is the only Wanga candidate on the ballot, Fernandes Barasa appears to have no space for other sub tribes in Kakamega. The Kabras, the Maramas, the Isukha the Tiriki can go to hell.  Even the Maramas from where Oparanya, the project owner comes from, those supporting Barasa have been relegated to watsapp attack dogs with nothing tangible in the team.  Azimio candidate Fernandes Barasa and his running mate Ayub Savula. Other subtribes in Kakamega have been reduced to cheering A closer look at the supposed government is enough to complete the Narrative that Lower Kakamega have an evil plot on the road to August against the rest of the county.  1. Transport Fernandez Barasa has  a transport manager by Name Hamisi who is a wanga from matungu who has been recruiting all drivers from wanga community only. The only driver who is not a wanga is a driver who drivers Noah which carries security team.  All the vehicles which have been donated are taken to matungu

TIM WANYOYI: AZIMIO KICKS LUHYAS IN THE TEETH.

*LUHYAS FUCKED UP IN NAIROBI* By Amunga Akhanyalabandu. Despite our large numbers, our productive land and hardworking people we are screwed up.  Luhyas in Azimio one Kenya have let us down big-time. Here are the facts  We are not presidential candidates  in either coalition.  But in Azimio..  We are not deputies  We are not governor for Nairobi.  We are not assured of any cabinet slot  We are not assured of any Parastatal slot  Our Oparanya is not on the negotiation table  Our Atwoli is not on the negotiation table  Our Jirongo and Savula are drunk on river road and thus not on the negotiation table.   Our Eugene Wamalwa is not on the negotiation table.  Our Mukhisa Kituyi is not on the negotiation table. Our Wafula wamunyinyi is not on the negotiation table.   We do not call the shots  We receive the shots from BEHIND. In the 4 cities of Kenya, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru we don't have a governor aspirant unlike Kikuyus,  KAMBAS, Kalenjins.  We have  nothing to w

LEONARD SHIMAKA ADDS NO VALUE TO FERNANDES BARAZA.

Image
LEONARD SHIMAKA is an opportunist with no interests of Malava people at heart. SHIMAKA is only concerned about his GLEE, his personal ambition to become speaker of County Assembly on the road to August 9th but not the tarmacking of roads, building of schools, supporting the education of bright students from poor families, constructing ECDE centres, building and equipping hospitals on the grassroots of Malava. It is by reason of the matters aforesaid that Shimaka is desperately hiring, assembling and paying known serial political brokers around Malava town for PUBLIC RELATIONS EXERCISE and in an attempt to hoodwink FERNANDES BARASA and his team that he has huge support around Malava or he can single handedly deliver Malava to him. However VOICE OF MALAVA under Patron LAWRENCE TOLI MAFUTA MUKOYANI is an organic idea birthed by Malava grassroots people to better their lives collectively as one people under one spontaneous voice, besides advocating and demanding for what is rightfully thei

WHY ATWOLI'S KAKAMEGA MEETING WAS USELESS.

Image
ANC leader Honourable Musalia Mudavadi and Uhuru Kenyatta in a past picture.  By Mwalimu Akhanyalabandu  A proper meeting to make key decisions affecting Mulelmbe Nation must at least have quorum.  The meeting at Golf Hotel Kakamega was to bring all the 48 elected leaders from the region. Only 18 turned up. 18 people who include outgoing and irrelevant governors like Ojamong and Khaemba cannot decide our future as Luhyas.  Any meeting without H.E. Musalia, Wetangula, Celophas Malala, Ayub Savula. Tindi Mwale, Sakwa Bunyasi, Omboko Milemba, Beatrice Adagala,  Bishop Khamala and my area MP Aseka Miradi, is null and void. It is just a wet dream. The following gave the meeting a wide berth.. Hon Nica Mumias West Hon Ben Washiali Mumias East Hon Aseka Khwisero Hon Injendi- Mala A Hon Ayub Savula- Lugari Hon Kibunguchi-Likuyani Hon Khamala - Lurambi Hon Tindi- Butere Hon Nabulindo-Matungu BUSIA Hon Bunyasi -Nambale Hon Kaunya Teso East Hon Emase Two West Hon Oyula- Bu

HON MUSALIA MUDAVADI'S TIME IS 2022

Image
Opinion by George Mulama.  On December 31st 2016, before a mammoth crowd in Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County, the self-proclaimed Luhya elder Francis Atwoli installed former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi as the spokesperson of the Luhya people in an event attended by many politicians from the region.  However, the absence of a section of influential politicians such as Bungoma senator and Ford Kenya leader, Moses Wetangula poured cold water on the whole event and aggravated the debate on who truly is the Luhya Kingpin.  After Atwoli’s coronation, Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya chairman rubbished the whole event claiming Atwoli did not have the mandate to crown a Luhya spokesperson while former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale warned the COTU boss that he would not succeed in imposing Raila Odinga on the Luhya people through moulding Mudavadi to be his pawn. To date, many years after the event, there is still a fierce debate on who rightly deserves the Kingpin tag go
