HUMAN RIGHTS WATCHDOG HONOURS PROF JANET BARASA AS GBV CHAMP.
HUMAN Rights watchdog KHRC has hailed Kakamega First Lady Professor Janet Barasa Kasily over sustained GBV campaign. Speaking at Golf hotel, KHRC official Robert Waweru said despite "Red carding" Kakamega County after surveys showed the vise was raising, alot of strides had been made. "We have seen an increase in Youth-friendly Health services and a sincere campaign thru the Janet Barasa Foundation" He said. Waweru said Prof Kasily the patron of JBF, was the first First Lady that had allowed KHRC and other organizations to partner with her towards eradicating the vice. The KHRC official said thru the sustained campaign of JBF and partners, cases of GBV and had dropped from 21 percent to 3 percent according to the Kenya Demographic Health survey. Another partner from US AID Boresha Jamii- UBJ Cornelius Ong'ore said the organisation had received 6,000 victims of GBV and Early Pregnancy in the last three years.
