Kakamega County has signed a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CBM (Christian Blind Mission) to strengthen eye, ear and hearing health services, with the organisation committing KSh. 245.6 million to support the county from 2026 to 2029. The partnership, implemented through Operation Eyesight Universal, will focus on reducing avoidable blindness and visual impairment, addressing ear and hearing challenges, renovating and equipping eye units, training health workers, and expanding MOU low-vision services. The project will initially cover Malava, Mumias East, Navakholo, Ikolomani and Shinyalu, with community door-to-door screening using Peek Technology expected to reach 187,534 people. It will also provide treatment, surgical outreaches, reading glasses and low-vision services. The investment is expected to connect more than 40,000 homes and trading centres, advancing the government’s commitment to achieving universal electricity access by 2030. In a show of desperation and giving up, Esnas Omanyi who has declared to contest as Kakamega Woman Rep in 2026 27 has gone mad.  Omanyo in a social media post rants and calls fellow aspirants names dismissing them as poor. Without provocation and from nowhere, Omanyo goes on to brag how she is shopping for a private jet. She dismisses those in the 2027 race against her as poor individuals. It's a sad day to contest as Woman Rep in Kakamega. Rogue Admins and school Accountants fingered for colluding in theft.  LAST month Kakamega County released Bursery to the tune of over Ksh 200M for grade 10 learners across schools after a regorous vetting exercise at ward levels. This was in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa's promise for Education for all in his Manifesto and a pre election pledge that was to be met responsibly. During vetting there were simmering complaints of complacent committees bent on warping the rules as set up by the Ministry to guide the exercise. It was reported that a section of rogue Administrators cheered by equally rogue school Principals presented lists of ghost students in some assumed far-flung schools. This was to buff up the numbers on applicants a fixed on the lists to attract extra cash channeled to the non existent beneficiaries thru the schools. Some schools across the county known to have less than ten qualified beneficiaries were said to have been turned into greed centers fo...
