WITH threats of moving to court over the Matungu by election, ODM Deputy party Leader Governor Whycliffe Oparanya has stirred a bee hive. Leaders drawn from across Matungu have said they will defend MP Honourable Peter Oscar Nabulindo and promised to reject all candidates supported by the governor on ODM in subsequent elections. Speaking at a quickly convened press conference at Bulimbo catholic grounds, the elders drawn from the populous Abashitsetse, abakolwe and Abamutiru sub clans vowed to teach Governor Oparanya "another political lesson" "We have listened keenly to threats by ODM party and by extention Governor Oparanya that they have a plot to challange the win of our MP, we are not afraid, we will wait for him to make good his threat because we are ready" Said Rafael Osundwa. Oparanya reportedly told confidants during a private session with county contractors who supported the ODM campaigns in the Matungu by-election last month that Prof Kutima was a weak candidate who cannot guarantee a win for the 2022 Kakamega gubernatorial contest. OPARANYA GUN RECOVERED IN BANANA PLANTATION.

Police in Kakamega have recovered a firearm that was allegedly stolen on Saturday from Joseph Manyasa Andeso, a bodyguard attached to Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. According to a police report, the Ceska pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the home of Kakamega County enforcement officer Robinson Wanzala Mandu.  Wanzala was arrested after he led officers to his home, where he had allegedly buried the missing firearm in a shallow hole in a banana plantation near his compound.  The gun was found wrapped in a plastic paper bag. “The scene was carefully dug and a Ceska pistol of serial number KE KP F2024 loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition recovered.  The said firearm had been wrapped in a plastic paper bag,” a statement released on Sunday night by police in Kakamega reads in part.
