SHOCK OF BEAUTIFUL BUT DAFT VIHIGA CEC NOMINEE.

Mary Amalemba made a fool of herself when she appeared before a vetting  Committee on Appointments.

Ms Amalemba arrived at the County Assembly smartly dressed and ready for vetting, but when she was eventually invited to meet the panel, a session that was supposed to be serious turned sympathetic for the woman from Hamisi Sub County.

She presented to the panel her national ID and photocopies of her Class Eight and Form Four certificates, much to the shock of the committee members who expected her to come armed with all her education papers including the mandatory degree certificate required to be a CEC.

Earlier, Vihiga activists had challenged her nomination on the basis of the fact that she doesn’t have a degree(even Great Lakes University could not ascertain if she was a student there) and when she appeared before the committee she confirmed she doesn’t have it.

Turns out that governor Wilber Ottichilo was only setting up Amalemba for failure as she does not qualify for the position, but he is forcing her and destroying her career by exposing her weakness.

A member of the committee that was vetting her, who spoke to Eshikumo2030 said it was a herculean task asking Amalemba questions that she couldn’t even answer.

“She could not express herself well and even answering questions pertaining to the department that she was nominated for was very difficult for her. She didn’t know what the department was called in Swahili. She had no clue what the department is. Members ended up just sympathising with her instead of laughing,” the member said.

The member added, “She would just have come with her birth certificate and ID so we know she didn’t even go to school. The residents should just know Amalemba is wasting their time as the law is very clear on the position she seeks that if you don’t have a degree you don’t qualify.”

Amalemba, according to the photocopies of the fake papers she presented, now only qualifies to be a village elder, a position that does not require anyone to hold any papers, because starting from 2022, even MCAs will be required to have degrees. Her career has completely been dented, but she may qualify to be a Nyumba Kumi chairperson.

But Vihiga County Assembly having perfected the art of defying the rules governing employment of qualified personnel, may just stamp approval on her name, which will result in another court case that may lead to Amalemba’s arrest in future.

Given the level of desertion by Ottichilo as shown by his negligence of his chief officer Gilbert Vidija, it will be sad to see Amalemba being wheeled to court or holding her bladder in pain because that is where this nomination is leading her to.
