LAWYER LEONARD SHIMAKA UNDER PRESSURE OVER ODM.

Stakeholders in Kakamega County are exerting Pressure on Mombasa Lawyer Leonard Shimaka to contest as Kakamega Governor on ODM ticket.

Speaking over the weekend at a Malava hotel, a caucus of Malava Professionals declared their support for his candidature in the race to replace Kakamega Governor Whycliffe Oparanya in 2022. 

"We will support Leonard Shimaka to go for the top seat because as the Kabras with the biggest voting block, we have tasted Deputy Governor fir 10 years" Said Patrick Lucheveleli. 

The professionals argued that Honourable Shimaka who had two months ago declared his interest in UDA ticket stood no chance due to closeness of Former Senator Bonny Khalwale to the Deputy President William Ruto.

"We feel Hon. Shimaka's candidature is under threat because the former Senator who is Deputy party Leader will automatically be given the ticket thus a let down" 

They said DP's UDA is a party with questionable characters and therefore Hon shimaka who has clean records need not to associate with it. 

"We want to urge Wakili Shimaka to make arrangements and contest as the governor on ODM ticket, it will even be an honor to his father who was the first ODM chairman in Kakamega and we as Professionals will rally for him" He said.

At the meeting, various women groups represented expressed hope that the Mombasa Lawyer can secure the ODM ticket as there was yet no clear candidate on the party. 

"We know we have Kutima as the the Deputy Governor and the former ODM chairman but that does not worry us because we are aggrieved that the Prof has been the deputy governor for over 9 years but very dormant and he has not been able to pull developments to our area and neither has he made the party active as a county chairman leading to his ouster, we remain with one formidable option of pushing Hon. Shimaka with fresh agility to fly the party ticket" Said Chairlady of the women groups present.

Lawyer Shimaka who unsuccessfully sought to become the Assembly Speaker in 2017 when the current Governor Whycliffe Oparanya took over has been traversing the county seeking support to be Governor whole engaging in various activities with women and youth groups. 

So far the Governorship of the county will pit lower and upper Kakamega as clear lines emerge because the outbound Governor who comes from Lower Kakamega in Butere has openly declared that he would like his Deputy Prof Kutima to replace him. 

Others who have expressed interest in running on the ODM ticket include Honourable Kizito Mugali the MP Shinyalu Member of Parliament and others are in parastatals that is accused of money swindling thus leaving odm with no clean and formidable candidate to run for gubernatorial and therefore, according to the group, Hon. Shimaka is the only suitable candidate.

GUARDS INJURED AS ELSIE RUNS OUT OF CASH AT FUNERAL.

A   FUNERAL  in Butere has left three body guards of Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda hospitalised after youths demanded for money at the occasion. Drama ensued when Muhanda, currently eyeing to be Governor promised money to mourners at a funeral in Mulambo area of Butere Sub County. In her short speech to mourners, Hon Muhanda had assured mourners that she had money and she could use the same in her Guberbatorial bid and that they should not worry. MUMIAS LEVEL 4 HOSPITAL: SABOTAGE OR INCOMPETENCE?

LAST week we got an e-mail from a whistle blower at Mumias Level4 hospital narrating on goings there. From the mail, it appears there is a deliberate effort aither thru ommission or commission by those charged with daily running the institution to bring it down.  Those entrusted by the County Government see that the institution lives to its name of LEVEL FOUR appear to be determined to pull it apart. Locals have failed to get services from the institution dispite the county investing in its well being in terms of drugs and Budget. As a responsible media, we set out to get a comment from those mentioned in the ongoing at the institution.
