EXCLUSIVE: ODM NOMINATION LIST FOR KAKAMEGA COUNTY.
OUTGOING Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda has been named as running a conduit going round soliciting for millions of shillings from individuals eyeing ODM nomination.
Eshikumo2030 is privy to text messages by the Woman Rep to potencial candidates asking for the money to be diposited in her private account.
One such text seen by this blogger from the WR reads in part: "Its not me Elsie Muhanda who wants the money it is the committee overseeing the process don't get me wrong.........
It is claimed when the committee presented the final list to Governor Oparanya, Elsie Muhanda went and withdrew it saying" Hakuna kazi ya bure these people must pay"

A number of those affected said on Thursday that a Elsie Muhanda, senior party elected leader had demanded dedication that each of them pays Short 2m for their names to be included in the party lists.
“Nomination is a reward for party loyalty and ensuring representation of the minority groups. It beats logic to demand for money for one’s name to spear on the party lists. By this it means that only those with money can be nominated,” one of the applicants told this blogger in confidence.
“We are told that the money is going to support the party campaigns esie ially for the struggling Fernandes Barasa yet Some of us were only told that there is nothing for free. We’re wondering why our support to the party should be free yet we have to pay to be rewarded,” she said.
They expressed fear that the nominations could fail to meet regional balance since those to be nominated may come from one corner of the county just because they paid.
They said that the list prepared by a committee selected to vet the applicants was recalled by a senior elected party member who generates new one According to payments.

Those privy to the list said that a constituency like Ikolomani which has four wards has four names on the top up list yet the constituency only qualifies for two slots if ODM wins all the wards.
Another applicant said that he sought to know whether the money will be refunded should the party fail to raise the number of elected ward reps to accommodate all those who paid but was never answered.
But Acting party Kakamega county coordinating committee chairman Mophat Mandela, also named as part of the solicitation conduit said the matter of party lists was being handled by a committee and not the coordinating committee.
“Every party has a system through which it runs its affairs. I don’t want to deny of confirm what you are saying,” Mandela said.

Among those called by the late include Honorable Naomi Shiyonga, Nabii Nabwera, Sam Wetungu, Philip Etale and Shinyalu MP Kizito Mugali among others.
We could not reach Muhanda for a comment, her phone went unanswered as texts were not returned.
