KAKAMEGA MCA IN RENT DISPUTE WITH MUMIAS WIDOW
According to papers filled at the Rent Tibunal Court and seen by Eshikumo2030, the Widow, Catherine Barasa has sued the MCA seeking to have him compelled to pay over Ksh 250,000.
An affidavit dated 10th February 2023, the applicant landlady says the respondent rented her premises in Ekero in 2016 for a monthly rent of Ksh 20,000 and signed a tendency agreement and the terms.
The rent was agreeably raised to Ksh 25,000 and later the tenant stealthily removed his property from the commercial house but left it locked.
Hon. Omukunda, according to court papers, owes the lady a total of Ksh 275,000 in rent arrears for the months of April 2022 to February 2023.
Investigations reveal that the tenant tempered with the original firm of the house by demolishing middle walls and leaving it at risk of collapse contrary to the terms of the tenency contract.
The second term MCA is not new to controversy, early 2021, he was involved in a tussle with the former Kakamega Governor Whyclife Oparanya. He was The tussle that saw him loose a two storey building in Sabathia market after he conspired to sell it to a second person after receiving money for the same from the then Governor.
Sources have indicated that he was forced to surrender ownership of the said building that houses Frankmat Supermarket at gun point and transfer its ownership to Governor Oparanya in the wee hours of the night.
Speaking to Eshikumo2030 on phone, the MCA bragged that he was not moved by the tribunal case saying he was confident of winning he however confirmed that he owes Mrs. Barasa close to 12 months rent arreares.
