ANTI-OPARANYA LEAFLETS SURFACE AT HOME.
ANTI-Oparanya leaflets emerged in Butere town and neighboring markets last night. The leaflets (see picture) that appeared to have been poured in the wee hours of the night, have a message condemning the governor for abandoning Butere.
A copy of the leaflet seen by *eshikumo2030* seems to insinuate that the aging governor had promised to give Butere residents "meat" in his second term as county boss but all has turned out as naught.
"Watu wa Butere wanangoja Nyama na wewe unawapa mifupa, wachia watu wa kufanya kazi bila majigambo" Reads one leaflet. In an apparent reference to several storey buildings set up by Butere CDF and MP Tindi Mwale, the leaflets say "Tunajengewa gorofa Butere, Bulanda and Shinamwenyuli primary school, hatutaki majigambo" reads the leaflets.
These leaflets come hot on the heels of surrender by Tindi Mwale saying he will support Oparanya's candidature as he(Tindi), was seeking to deputize
Lugari MP Ayub Savula in 2023 who will be contesting as Kakamega County Governor.
Dr. Ashiembi who is also in the Butere Parliamentary in a telephone interview termed Oparanya's move as selfish, dangerous and ill informed. "Oparanya should retire honourable this idea of Deputy Prime Minister is a poisoned caliche, he will go home a bitter man because there will be many forces making sure that his dream is killed" he said.
The Nairobi - based doctor said Tindi Mwale has sensed defeat and had underperformed and was running to hide behind the candidature of Ayub Savula. "Tindi thinks we will be diverted, we still want him to explain the open abuse of CDF funds and flouting of procurement laws with award of contracts, we must hold him to account before singing about 2022" Said Dr. Ashiembi.
Another candidate who expressed displeasure with Gov Oparanya's move is Marama South MCA Omungala Opuka who had declared to contest the seat. Earlier Hon Tindi Mwale appeared to develop cold feet when asked about the Governor 's move with BBI in on mind he wrote "It's too early to comment or write about it.
"I shall comment after realization of BBI and/or referendum and its changes to the governance structure. Upto this stage, its still speculative" he had said. *Eshikumo2030* established that Laurence Omwaka a County CEC appointed by Oparanya and had declared his interest in the seat in 2022, immediately went into shock after spending thousands in early campaigns.
Insiders said the CEC cursed out loudly terming the move as selfish and meant to hoodwink residents of Butere in as far as leaded ship is concerned.
The only candidate who has expressed confidence to face Governor Oparanya at the ballot as Butere MP is Hon Andrew Toboso, a former MP who lost to Tindi Mwale in 2017 elections.
Hon Toboso welcomed the move saying the people of Butere will make the finsl decision if the Governor decided to contest as MP and that he will have a lot to contend with.
Since Oparanya's consultation with elders at eshimuli Guest house in Butere, several youth have come out accusing him of having done totally nothing to Butere residents in his tenure af Kakamega governor except refurbishing his home in Mabole and building new homes for his other wives.
It will be interesting to see what the Governor will use as a platform to convince the electorate in Butere to elect him as MP if he chooses to contest because most people feel he had given them a raw deal.
A hero is never recognized at home.
