Kakamega County Public Service Board this week conducted a County Human Resource Audit exercise to ascertain the number of County Government staff and verify their academic credentials.
The excercise that kicked off Wednesday at the Sub-County level under the supervision of the Chairperson of the Board CS Catherine Omweno came to conclusion on Friday at the County Headquarters in Kakamega and Mumias Municipalities, Likuyani and the County General Hospital.
County employees presented themselves before Members of the Board with their original and copies of required documents including National Identify card, letter of appointment, current payslip and academic qualifications.
Other areas where Members of the Board concluded the exercise Friday evening include Likuyani under the coordination of the Board's Vice Chairperson CPA John Subai, Mumias West under the supervision of Mr Joel Omukoko while Madam Silvia Otunga and Mr. Stanley Were took charge of Lurambi Sub-County.
The Chairperson of the Board's Human Resource Adhoc Committee Dr. Ralph Wangatia while addressing members of the press, assured County staff that their jobs were secure as the excercise only aims at ensuring proper staff placement and promotions for the qualified officers while at the same time identifying any existing HR anomalies.
"This is Phase one of our HR Audit and it is not about witch-hunt but a normal excercise that helps big organisations such as the Government to invoke the Human Resource Policy in decision making. The process involves actual Staff Headcount, Certificates Authentication and Payroll Verification all geared towards improving staff welfare and delivery of quality services to the public," said Dr Wangatia.
All County Support Staff will undergo the exercise on Monday at the County Public Service Board.
