A look at applicants to fill the positions of Chief Officers reveals individuals whose history tells alot. 

Individuals, most who have excelled in previous positions while others did not shine as such. 

The list of applicants who have been called for interviews tells stories of courage against hopelessness.

A case of hope is that of CPA Charles Tung'a, from Matete Subcounty, Lugari Constituency who is among the Professional Accountants lining up to help the Governor actualize his mandate to the people.

Public records show that CPA Tung'a who served as Director of Internal Audit from Co-operative Bank where he had worked for over Eleven years in Finance& Compliance Departments, set up one of the best Audit department that his predecessors have failed to measure to his high standards.

He was very instrumental in County set up and actively gave counsel and advise to the Executive  which saw officers in term one work within set laws, guidelines, polices and expectations to the satisfaction of the citizens.
Mr. Charles Tung'a alias Chairman one of those seeking to priffesionalize Kakamega affairs. 

A strict adherant of the Seventh Day Adventist church, known for their forthright, boldness, firmeness and strict regard to the law, he stands out from the applicants having been also their Western Branch ICPAK Chairman when FCPA Barasa was the National ICPAK Chair.

Colleagues who worked with CPA Tung'a intimate that he was very professional, fair, and had high performance standards besides being persuasive but ruthless to those who violates the laws, policies and procedures. 

He moved to the National Government Parastatal and has transformed the same attributes in public service.

As a trainer of Accountants & Auditors on matters Governance, PFM Act, Mwongozo guidelines, Prudence in expenditure etc, he rhymes well with the Governors six pillars and given a chance, he can be a technocrat and public servant whose standards will propel the county to global standards.

My inquiry from one staff who knows him well who wanted to remain anonymous said that _Chairman_ as he was fondly known, Is perceived to be stubborn on what he believes in and cannot be compromised and usually protects the profession at all times in his undertakings.

GUARDS INJURED AS ELSIE RUNS OUT OF CASH AT FUNERAL.

A   FUNERAL  in Butere has left three body guards of Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda hospitalised after youths demanded for money at the occasion. Drama ensued when Muhanda, currently eyeing to be Governor promised money to mourners at a funeral in Mulambo area of Butere Sub County. In her short speech to mourners, Hon Muhanda had assured mourners that she had money and she could use the same in her Guberbatorial bid and that they should not worry. After her speech she told mourners to line up for a token in which she started dishing out Ksh 50 per person present.  Excited women and youths who were at the occasion started chanting songs in her praise as Woman Representative as they gyrated to  isukuti .  SAFETY : Honourable Elsie Muhanda being whisked to safety in Butere when she ran out of cash at a funeral.  Soon after her speech, hell broke loose the local MP Tindi Mwale who had taken off earlier was not present to defend The Woman representative

MUMIAS LEVEL 4 HOSPITAL: SABOTAGE OR INCOMPETENCE?

LAST week we got an e-mail from a whistle blower at Mumias Level4 hospital narrating on goings there. From the mail, it appears there is a deliberate effort aither thru ommission or commission by those charged with daily running the institution to bring it down.  Those entrusted by the County Government see that the institution lives to its name of LEVEL FOUR appear to be determined to pull it apart. Locals have failed to get services from the institution dispite the county investing in its well being in terms of drugs and Budget. As a responsible media, we set out to get a comment from those mentioned in the ongoing at the institution.
