UNDERSTAND COUNTY AND NATIONAL ROLES FIRST LADY URGES.
KAKAMEGA County's First Lady Professor Janet Kasily has hailed mwananchi for being vigilant on the working of devolution.
Speaking in Khwisero. The first lady said she was happy that voters had awakened up and were demanding for quality and accountability from both national and county government.
Professor Kasily said since the last election, voters, especially youth have been keen to know projects by the County and those for the national Government and this was die to a tie participation.
"There is a very thin line between projects for both governments and one can easily blame the county for projects that are for the Central government but Iam happy this is now very clear" She said.
The first lady said Kakamega County was an equal employer and urged youth to look out and seek employment opportunities when they arise or fall vacant.
In Khwisero, Prof Kasily who joined family and friends of Emilly Nasambu in bidding her farewell at her home in Emaene Community Area, Kisa Central, Khwisero Sub-County a Marshal officer who died after a short illness, said she was impressed by the local MP Aseka Miradi's bond with locals.
The First Lady eulogized Nasambu as a dedicated officer who untill her demise was serving the county diligently as a revenue Marshal a position she had been employed for only two months.
Professor Janet Barasa remembered the late as a grass root worker who worked tirelessly during the last elections for Governor Fernandes Barasa's victory, she promised to stand with the late's children and family in deed and in need.
Emilly, affectionately known as "Shebeshi" by her friends, was a county marshal officer in the Department of Social Services, County Government of Kakamega.
Mama Janet Barasa took the opportunity to advocate for the prevention and elimination of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. She urged the community to reject the vice citing the high incidents of domestic violence in Khwisero and the neighbouring Butere Sub-County.
As a cancer advocate, Governor Barasa 's spouse used the platform to raise awareness about the importance of regular cancer screening and encouraged men and women to get screened for prostate, breast and Cervical cancer respectively this she said will enhance early detection and treatment, emphasizing that cancer screening services are FREE in all Level IV Hospitals across the County.
Also, in attendance were Khwisero MP Hon. Christopher Aseka Miradi, CECM for Public Service and Administration Mr. Benjamin Andama, Chief Officers: Ms. Doreen Amwoga (County Administration), Ms. Vivien Ayuma (Education), Ms. Faith Gitira (Trade), Ms. Mariam Nyongesa Were (Water), Gender Advisor Ms. Christine Oside, Officials of the County Administration, among other mourners.
