GOVERNOR FERNANDES BARASA IS WELL AWARE.
The County Government of Kakamega finds itself in a debt sinkhole as a result of poor management of the previous administration under Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, and poor oversight from the then Senator - Cleophas Malala. In the 2020/21 budget Senator Malala flagged the following items in the budget. 1. Madala Tea Factory: Required ~Ksh. 150 Million; allocated only Ksh. 20 Million. 2. Malava Dairy Plant: Required Ksh. 140 Million; allocated only Ksh. 40 Million. 3. Lugari Maize Milling Plant. Funding cut to zero shillings. These projects, alongside major undertakings like Bhukungu Stadium, Kakamega Level-6 Hospital, and Butere Level-4 Hospital, requiring billions to complete, were inherited by Governor Barasa's administration. Malala exploited the situation for personal gain.
