HOW KAKAMEGA PLANS TO BATTLE CLIMATE CHANGE

Image
KAKAMEGA County's Intergrated Development Program (CIDP) has for the first time since devolution, mainstreamed climate change as a factor. These revelations came out at Mung'ang'a grounds in Mumias East Constituency during the launch of the County Climate Change Action Plan (KCCCAP) by Governor Fernandes Barasa. Speaking while launching the plan, the county boss also said rapid population increase had led to dwindling quantity and quality of water and resources which had a direct bearing on the change in climatic condition. "Our CIPD has factored in the change in climate due to low carbon emissions, resource efficiency, specific climate change adaptation and mitigation measures not forgetting economic transformation" He said.  Governor Barasa said the county plan, expected to run 2023-2027 is geared towards inclusivity in activities with one aim to reduce prevalence of water and waterborne diseases.  Speaking at the event Peninnah Mukabana CECM Environ...

THESE PHOTOS ARE DISGUSTING TO THE PUBLIC.

Image
POSTING of event photos comes with responsibility. Photos officially released by communicators of politicians must be guarded. Eshikumo2030.blogspot.com is publishing photos officially released by communication teams to social media of among others the first lady Janet Kasilly Barasa. Unbeknown to the so called communication teams, these pictures are to say the least disgusting. And because the rule of the thumb is that a picture is worth a thousand words, it's simply unprofessional to release some images of public figures to the public.  Political expedience not withstanding, photos of public figures must be descent, moral, quality and communicative.  FIRST Lady Janet Kasilly at an event to distribute inner pants to school children. This was released by her communication team despite it insinuating how poverty is being agrandised.  Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo said to be taking a motorbike tour of his constituency and waving at non exist...

COUNTY SECRETARY: IS THE SEAT JINXED OR JUST TOO SWEET TO LEAVE?

Image
AT the advent of devolution in 2016, everything looked new. People were getting used to counties as governments headed by Governors. County bosses were mini-gods, in Kakamega for instance, coming in from a Ministerial position, Whycliffe Oparanya was elected as a first Governor and as he put together his cabinet the position of County Secretary emerged as powerful. Juggling between political competing interests and systematic blatant looting, Oparanya decided to divide and rule as he neglected Butere his home. In 2013, Jeremiah Were was picked as the Kakamega County Secretary being a pioneer in the otherwise office that was seeing 'transition' between county and National Governments.  Soft spoken and naive, Mr. Were had to learn the ropes of how to deal with Ministers at the county despite pressure from the Governor himself at the time devolution was taking root as a system of governance.  Mr. Were lasted from 2013 to 2015 when he was suddenly released from the pos...

IMMEDIATE Former Kakamega County Secretary Dr. Boniface Okoth has officially handed over his station to Lawrence Omuhaka. In a short ceremony at the office Dr. Okoth also took over as Education CECM from Godfrey Owuor ending days of speculation that he had refused.  The rumour mill and social media had, since the mini reschuffle by Governor Fernandes Barasa, been awash with reports of a 'refusal' by the county employee to move.  A Screen grab of the Visitors book at the Education CECM's Office showing the proceedings.  Dr. Okoth had in an earlier video footage at a function said he had no issue with the changes saying his appointing authority was entitled to move him.  "Sina Shida na Governor Fernandes Barasa si mnajua mimi nilikua mtu wake wa mkono, sasa ameona niingie kwa Elimu ' He said.  This now, according to observers puts to rest speculation that there was a stand-off in the county ranks and file.  According to insider sources, individual...
