ICT: ODONGO TEMPORARILY STEPS IN WETUNGU'S SHOES

The outgoing Director for ICT and E-government Mr Sam Wetungu officially handed over office to the Deputy Director Mr Chrisantus Odongo yesterday in an exercise that was overseen by Chief Officer for ICT and E-government Mr Phanuel Musasia. 

Mr Wetungu who exits the County after an illustrious over 10 year stint also served as the first Director for Communications and the first County Liaison Officer. He thanked H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa and his predecessor H.E Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for granting him the opportunity to serve the County and people of Kakamega. 

He expressed his willingness to render his services to the County Government whenever he is called upon.

Mr Odongo will step in until a substantive Director ICT is recruited.

Among key successes and projects Mr. Wetungu is leaving at the County:

As Director Communication

1. Started the department from zero.
2. Equipped communication office with staff, equipment and tools including the communication vehicles being used currently.
3. Ensured Governor Oparanya publicity grew very fast and it maintained upto when he left the county after 10 year's.

Director Liaison and Partnerships

1. Started the office from nothing. First physical County Liaison office in whole Kenya before other counties.
2. Became Chairman of all 47 County Liaison Officers.
3. Several investment projects came to Kakamega including Dairy Project in Malava , WASH projects from UNHabitat and Embassy of Thailand, etc
4. Most effective Liaison Office in Kenya then as rated by Council of Governors.

As Director ICT and E-government

1.Implemented County ERP system
2. Implemented County Cashless payment system
3 . Established CCTV systems to monitor Kakamega town and County Offices
4. Enhanced adoption of Technology in County Hospitals
5. Brought idea of Paperless Government by proposing E-Cabinet solution being implemented now.
6. Birthed the idea of E-Public Participation being implemented now.
Among other projects.

As Mr Wetungu exits to pursue other National Duties with the Republic of Kenya all eyes are on his successor and how promt, accurate informative communication will propel the current administration like it did the last.
