TAUNTED as a political weakling, a green horn with only management skills at election, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa is fast metamorphosizing into a political chase master. If events of the past two weeks are anything to go by, then it's clear the County boss has walked out of his predicesor's shadow and has no regrets. Governor Barasa has come out publicly to tell off Ex Governor Whyclife Oparanya and some of his blind backers who thought they will "run the county from back door". Shooting from the hip in an offensive that threatened Oparanya to the core, the county boss, elucidated several short comings that his government inherited. KAKAMEGA COUNTY Minister for Water, Natural Resources and Climate Change Hon Penina Mukabane today roared in Mabole EX Governor's home area. Kakamega county Public Service CECM Dr Boniface Okoth this afternoon led Chief Officers Faith Gitira, Emanuel Kariuki and Butere Sub County  officials at the home of the late Chief Officer Jessica Weku in Shinyulu for ongoing funeral preparations.  The delegation met family members, the church for deliberations. Another meeting will be held on Monday. Chief Officer Weku died last week after a short illness.

MCAs and Opinion leaders in Butere have scoffed at Former Kakamega Governor Whyclife Oparanya for attempting to micro manage operations of the ODM party despite handing over its leadership.  The leaders, fresh from party elections that saw Governor Barasa elected as ODM Chairman pointed fingers at the former Governor for attempting to install puppet officials in ODM and to undermine the party leader Raila Odinga.  At an inspection tour of the County-Funded  Iranda  Water project in Marama West Ward, the Deputy Governor Ayub Savula dismissed as petty the former Governor.  Speaking in Swahili, the cantankerous Savula said  "Ambieni Oparanya atoke kwa hizi vitu ndogo ndogo awachane kutuma watu na kuskiza fitina Barasa ndie Governor for ten years na ni mwenyekiti wa ODM apende asipende"  The DG said the former Governor was running a cartel-like shadow government where the raw material is  fitina  and discussing how to brin...

OPPONENTS who wanted to snatch ODM's soul and make is an affiliate of Ford Kenya in Kakamega have been shamed. Party Delegates from across all the 12 sub counties of Kakamega County have stamped authority for _Italanyi_. They have vanquished Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka and outgoing woman representative Elsie Muhanda. Others shamed include EX Governor Whyclife Oparanya who had burnt the midnight oil and money to try and install MP Nabii as a puppet at the helm of ODM. The plan, money, night schemes and threats and intimidation against delegates in dingy Webuye bars and smokey backstreet hotels to vote for the puppet have been defeated.
