The bridges, linking major markets to small towns and villages have come as relief to inhabitants because transport has been eased.
For instance, Khaunga Bridge in Mumias East and Mwiyala in Lurambi have started spurring development in those areas due to acessibility that has long been a mirage.
According to the Ministry, out of a total of 7 roads, 4 are complete and motorable after upgrade from earthen to Bitumen.
The 3 still under construction are Lumakanda-Manyinyi, Harambee-Msamba-Khaunga and Shirere-malava- Timbeni. These ones, according to the Ministry, are 60% done and work is still going on.
Ongoing rains have been termed as a challenge in the construction of the roads and could further delay completion or excavation of new routes.
To try and actualize 24-hour economy, Kakamega County has also erected close to 100 high mast lights in verious market places from Upper Likuyani to lower Butere.
These lights, powered by electricity are spread in mid-urban areas where small businesses are sprouting and operating even at night.

But according to Bodaboda Oprators, most of the high mast lights have ended up useless because of constant power outages experienced in the last two months.
According to small scale Business people, Governor Fernandes Barasa's administration should also consider high mast lights powered by solar. As this is more economical and efficient.
The projection of the Ministry is to have at least a tar-marked road in every ward done by the county and complemented by the anticipated MCA's run 10Kms per ward.
By end of the first term, of this administration, according to an insider, every village will access each other easily unlike at the past when people had to travel longer due to lack of bridges.
