WITH threats of moving to court over the Matungu by election, ODM Deputy party Leader Governor Whycliffe Oparanya has stirred a bee hive. Leaders drawn from across Matungu have said they will defend MP Honourable Peter Oscar Nabulindo and promised to reject all candidates supported by the governor on ODM in subsequent elections. Oparanya reportedly told confidants during a private session with county contractors who supported the ODM campaigns in the Matungu by-election last month that Prof Kutima was a weak candidate who cannot guarantee a win for the 2022 Kakamega gubernatorial contest. Police in Kakamega have recovered a firearm that was allegedly stolen on Saturday from Joseph Manyasa Andeso, a bodyguard attached to Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. According to a police report, the Ceska pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the home of Kakamega County enforcement officer Robinson Wanzala Mandu.  Wanzala was arrested after he led officers to his home, where he had allegedly buried the missing firearm in a shallow hole in a banana plantation near his compound.  The gun was found wrapped in a plastic paper bag. “The scene was carefully dug and a Ceska pistol of serial number KE KP F2024 loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition recovered.  The said firearm had been wrapped in a plastic paper bag,” a statement released on Sunday night by police in Kakamega reads in part. Through an official letter by a local chief, the $ex maniac identified as Jared Ochieng Odhiambo aka Jagem, has been ordered to move out of Ugunja location with immediate effect.  Details are emerging on what led to the flopping of a plan to steal the Matungu Election by Kakamega County top officials including  Governor Whycliffe Oparanya.  A source has told this blog that the night preceeding the Matungu elections on 4th, a high powered meeting in Mumias mapped out all the polling stations especially those "non receptive" to the ODM Aspirant David Were. At the meeting, was Kakamega top goons, shadowy Contractors, contractors, MCAs allied to ODM and known criminal elements available for hire. The plot was to give trusted people money and transport them to Matungu in the wee hours of the morning and as polling stations opened, individuals or groups of people are given money to vote for David Were. CHRISTABEL Omurunga the late Matungu MP's widow last week cursed the UDA candidate for allegedly conning her funeral cash.  Speaking at her home in Matungu the widow claimed after the funeral, she was conned off close to Ksh 1.2 M by Alex Lanya. In an emotional address to the media, the widow claimed UDA's candidate Alex Lanya, a contractor by profession had refused to finish the late MP's grave despite pocketing the cash. "Lanya took money from me to construct my late husband's grave and cement it to date he was in a hurry to replace my husband and he went away" Said a sobbing Christabel.
