MATUNGU'S NABULINDO DROPS A POINT IN POPILARITY RATINGS. But still remains favorite.
The act by the MP who caused acrimony by decamping from his sponsor party ANC to ODM to stick with Fernandes Barasa as his governor of choice is proving counter productive in an area predominantly Cleonated (prefer Malala).
Honourable Nabulindo, with the help of Malala went on to acrimoniously win a by election that was heavily sponsored by the Kakamega county government led by Governor Oparanya.
The mini poll was after the sudden demise of the local MP Honourable Justus Omurunga and Honourable Nabulindo fully backed by the ANC machinery won against ODM's David Were.
Opinion on the ground shows that the MP still enjoys support but not as massive as it has been at the by election and this is attributed to hiccups on his part and inroads by Former MP David Were who is contesting on Jubilee and Alex Lanya on ANC.

Pockets of resistance following the MP's decision to decamps to ODM despite several assurances that ODM does not grow politicians but crashes them.
One school of thought has it that the slight drop in opinion by Nabulindo is because Governor Oparanya is secretly backing former Assembly speaker Morris Buluma a buddy since his days at the Assembly.
Another thought is the fact that the MP and four other contenders to the seat are sharing and concentrated in three of the six wards of Matungu Constituency while Alex Lanya enjoys support from a whooping 3 wards from where he comes alone.
It is argued that if ANC'S Alex Lanya can consolidate his three wards and capitalize on the fact that he comes from the populous Abashitsetse clan, he coykd win the seat.
However, Honourable Nabulindo's record in the last short period he has been MP appears to be sparkling with a record beneficiaries of Bursary, a record TIVET admission and bei G in touch in the constituency, thus would earn him a full term.
It is to the chagrin of the MP to work harder in the remaining weeks to consolidate enough numbers for his victory and a full term.
A disadvantage that could deny David Were votes in Matungu is the age factor, the former MP has of large been looking frail on the campaign trail a thing that appears to turn off voters.
About the firmer Speaker Moris Buluma, he is regarded an outsider, having been speaker of the Kakamega Assembly fir 19 years, Buluma has nothing to show in terms of helping locals not even a class room or a loo in his name in the entire constituency.
Another Candidate in the race is Jeremiah Namuyu a former CEC in the Oparanya Government regarded as a hands off guy during his days in the cabinet he was shrouded I. Mystery and not so social.
All in all Matungu remains a Three horse race between Nabulindo, Lanya and Were in that order in the run up to next month's elections.
ENDS.
