"OFFICIAL BEGGERS" INVADE KISUMU AIRPORT.
A SECTION of VIPs including Mps, Senators, Governors and patastayal Chiefs are threatening to stop using Kisumu Airport over claims of sturbon begging.
Speaking this morning at the airport, a vocal MP who did not want to be named claimed there was an emerging trend at the airport that was disturbing.
"All employees of the airlines, police KAA and ordinary people have taken to openly and incessantly begging and asking for mostly financial favours from travellers to and from the airport" He said.
The Legislator complained that most visitors had resorted to flying Nairobi-Eldoret route to "avoid being coarsed by idlers who beg and even threaten people disembarking from the planes".
He said they had raised complains with the management of the Airport to reign in on this behavior but no action has been taken.
"Even police officers will come to you and insist to carry small bags just to extort money from you it's really disturbing" he said.
A source at the airport claimed that of late they had been experiencing declining traffic as compared to two years ago when the airport was expanded a thing the source attributed to the "bad manners".

Another Senator said he had chosen to fly the Nairobi-Eldoret route because of "Friendly reception at the Eldoret Airport as nobody will try to shake you down for a bribe for doing nothing for you" She said.
Those fingered for incessant demands and begging according to our source include police officers at the airport, KAA workers, Safari Link workers and KQ staffers.
