MRS BARASA: DON'T COMPARE MY HUSBAND WITH OPARANYA YET.

KAKAMEGA First Lady Professor Janet Kasily Barasa last evening said it was unfair and too early to compare her husband's two years in office to former Kakamega Governor's ten years tenure.

She said what her husband, the current Governor Fernandes Barasa has done was commensurate to his re-election promises and in line with set plans and time lines.

"The former Governor Oparanya took ten years to do what he did and we can see it, but it's not fair to compare that history with that of less than three years in office". She said.

Speaking when she met over 300 widows in Butere, Prof Kasily said service delivery was the fulcrum on which the Governor's second term will turn.

"Let me assure you, the Governor is determined to make sure that each area that needs concentration is addressed, I know Butere people are used to warmth and leadership, the Governor will make sure they are safe". She said.

At a blitz function for widows in Butere's five wards, Prof Kasily underscored the need for the well being of the vulnerable class in society.

" I feel for you, I want to stand with you because "nyinyi ni watu wa pillow moja" and it's not your making it's God, nobody chooses to be a widow" She said.

While at Butere's Harambee, Prof Kasily underscored the need for parents to take an active role in the well being of youth.

"Politicians are using youths to cause trouble in functions and that should be unacceptable in the present era" She said.

She termed as shameful events of last weekend at a funeral in Matungu where hired hoodlums and goons disrupted a funeral of former Chief Augustin Odongo.

The first lady assured widows and orphans present that she will use any available opportunity to protect the welfare and well being of the less fortunate in society.

At the event, each widow present was given a goody bag with cooking fat, wheat and maize flour, sugar, salt, milk, tea leaves and coffee.

Speaking at the same venue, the Chiel Officer for Public Health Sister Rose Muhanda implored all leaders in Butere to take part in the ongoing sensitization and urged massive registration on Social Health - SHA.
Sister Muhanda termed as idle talk claims that SHA was not working adding that Kakamega hospitals had registered a surge in the registered members on the Insurance since inception.

Professor Janet Barasa Kasilly thru her Foundation The Janet Barasa Foundation, has won accolades from Human rights bodies as running an open-ended venture that is grassroots-based across Kakamega's 12 sub counties.
