GOVERNOR BARASA TO REPORTERS: A RESPONSIBLE MEDIA IS THE BEST.
KAKAMEGA Governor Hon Fernandes Barasa has come out in support of a free media in actualization of his six point agenda.
Speaking at Golf Hotel in Kakamega at a breakfast meeting with journalists from Kakamega County, the Governor said his administration would seek to operate an open door policy for free flow of information.

"Lack of information leads to speculation and that's why I have empowered my CECs and Co's to be free to brief the media on the steps and achievements we make as a government without fear of reprisal" He said.
At the meeting that brought together journalists, certified bloggers and media owners, the county boss emphasised the need for patriotism amongst the reporters adding that his administration understood the important role the media played in the society.
"You are partners in this government, it's not about us and them, take part in running the county by highlighting my six point agenda to the public because we seek to work together" He Said.
Hon. Barasa underscores the need for his administration to operate an open door policy noting that as a manager and certified accountant, he will not play oarocial politics in terms of distribution of development projects across the county.
"Campaigns are over, it's time we look at our promises and strive to meet them, with a free critical press, we will be able to openly explain each step we make without fearing, theecia is allowed to audit our work and highlight our agenda and the County will facilitate where possible" Said the Governor.
Earlier at the function, the County secretary Dr. Okoth called on the media to exercise restraint and seek verification of facts before Publication or broadcasting adding that the county will not condone harrasment of any journalist or blogger in their line of duty.
