KAKAMEGA COUNTY ASSEMBLY MUST NOT BE A PARTY PUPPET.
LAST Week, several events touching on Kakamega County Assembly leadership took place and they should not go unexplained.
First, two MCAs, Koyonzo's Donald Okumu and Kisa south's Benson Omboko were de-whipped from. Agriculture and Health committees respectively.
In a letter signed by Speaker Hon James Namatsi, no reason was given for the action seen by many as an affront to the independence of the Assembly committees.
Letter from ODM On the dewhip saga of MCAs in Kakamega County Assembly.
Before the ink could dry on the Speaker's letter, another letter from ODM Secretary General Hon. Edwin Sifuna surfaced rubbishing the said de-whip arguing that such an action, if it was to be done, was a preserve of the sponsor-party ODM.
As this was being digested after it hit like a thunderbolt, ODM deputy Party leader Whycliffe Oparanya quickly convened a meeting between the dewhipped MCAs and party leader Raila Odinga.
At the meeting, seen as an attempt to micromanage ODM affairs at the Assembly from Orange House, it was resolved that to add on the Sifuna-letter, open resistance be exercised against Hon James Namatsi's so called de-whip attempt.
An insider at the meeting told this blog that Oparanya, determined to manipulate the Marjority side of the Assembly even called the Assembly Marjority Leader Philip Maina Omwami and read him the riot act in as far as "towing the line" was concerned.
Elsewhere, the same week, when the Speaker called a meeting of MCAS in Kisumu, whose agenda was to "streamline house agenda" the MCAs plainly refused to attend, stayed away and made demands to they wanted met before any sitting.
Those MCAs, many allied to Hon Omboko protested that there was an attempt to gag committee work and that they would stage a coup on the speaker and Marjority Leader if this trend continued.
It is unfortunate that the Kakamega County Assembly's Marjority side has gone rogue and outlived it's usefulness, it's leadership has failed to whip to support the government position and time appears to be running out.
The Assembly Marjority leadership has become a puppet of outsiders ( Read Oparanya) and has taken a detour from the main Agenda for the governor and government.
This is a dangerous trend that if not checked can derail the government agenda in as far as formulating lagislation that is in tandem with Governor Fernandes Barasa's SIX point AGENDA and manifesto is concerned.

At Eshikumo2030.blogspot.com it is our stand that anything/body that appears determined to undermine both the working of the government and the Assembly operations must be called out.
We are calling out the ODM party for openly undermining operations of the Kakamega Assembly by interfering in legal decisions taken fir it's well being.
We are calling out the ODM deputy party Leader and former Governor Whycliffe Oparanya who is using selected MCAs on the Marjority side as puppets to further a crude campaign against the Assembly and by extention the government of Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Oparanya must be told in no uncertain terms that the earlier he accepts that the county has a new leadership under Fernandes Barasa the better, he must stop arm-twisting MCAs toward his warped interests.
Its our stand that if the Assembly is adulterated, then Governor Barasa's Government risks running into head winds on the road to delivery because delivery is pegged on the Assembly.
Kakamega MCAs should stop 🛑 pushing the governor into interfering in the running of the County Assembly as his Predicessor did because the Assembly is an independent body and the Governor has all along respected that.
The Assembly must focus on delivery not only for individual MCAs but also furtherance of the Governor's AGENDA for the people of Kakamega County.
