WETUNGU THE ICT GURU EXITS COUNTY OF KAKAMEGA

THE Exit of Sam Wetungu as Director ICT and E-government will without doubt leave a vaccum that will take long to fill.

A swift-foot work horse who is a pioneer since April 2013 to June 2023, Mr. Wetungu indeed baby-sat devolution with many firsts and feathers in his heart.

He was also the first Director of communication, pioneer Liaison Officer and partnerships and now leaving after diligent in service.

In his heart-full message posted on the official watsapp group of Kakamega 2022/27 General, Sam Wetungu thanks Governor Fernandes Barasa for having inherited his services for 9 months and says "It's time to exit and have my position filled, am aware it has been advertised and will be filled competently"

Mr. Sam Wetungu. He has exit Kakamega County as ICT Director after eleven years. 

Among key successes and projects Mr. Wetungu is leaving at the County:

As Director Communication

1. Started the department from zero.
2. Equipped communication office with staff, equipment and tools including the communication vehicles being used currently.
3. Ensured Governor Oparanya publicity grew very fast and it maintained upto when he left the county after 10 year's.

Director Liaison and Partnerships

1. Started the office from nothing. First physical County Liaison office in whole Kenya before other counties.
2. Became Chairman of all 47 County Liaison Officers.
3. Several investment projects came to Kakamega including Dairy Project in Malava , WASH projects from UNHabitat and Embassy of Thailand, etc
4. Most effective Liaison Office in Kenya then as rated by Council of Governors.

As Director ICT and E-government

1.Implemented County ERP system
2. Implemented County Cashless payment system
3 . Established CCTV systems to monitor Kakamega town and County Offices
4. Enhanced adoption of Technology in County Hospitals
5. Brought idea of Paperless Government by proposing E-Cabinet solution being implemented now.
6. Birthed the idea of E-Public Participation being implemented now.
Among other projects.

As Mr Wetungu exits to pursue other National Duties with the Republic of Kenya all eyes are on his successor and how promt, accurate informative communication will propel the current administration like it did the last.

At eshikumo2030.blogspot.com, we want to wish Sam Wetungu ALL THE BEST, the face of ICT in Kakamega from who we cut our teeth as he strode the corridors of ICT while we changed our diapers and we have since got our foothold.

KAKAMEGA SERVICE BOARD UNDER SIEGE - As fresh bid to kick it out is received by Assembly.

A Petition to remove the six members of the Kakamega Public Service Board was yesterday received by the Assembly. We can exclusively reveal. The petitioner Dennis Duncan Muhanda wants the Assembly to consider kicking out the County employment body on a myriad of violations. The resident of Mahiakalo who has lodged the Petition pursuant to the provisions of Article 38 of the constitution section 5 of the county government Act. The six individuals tagetted are Chairperson Catherine Raini Omweno, John Ambrose Wanyama, Stanly Amwayi Were, Joel Amukoko Anyera,Sylvia Itembe Otunga and Ralph Wangatia Immam who constitute the CPDB. BREAKING NEWS: COURT STOPS OPARANYA'S KIN BURIAL

MUMIAS COURT has just stopped the burial of former firsts Lady's uncle over land tussle. In an order by Senior Principal magistrate at Mumias, the burial of Banerd Martin Kadima on a contested parcel of land be stopped. In an application filed by Rajab Opondo Wamukoya thru Maina Kuchio Omukamani advocates, the Plaintiff cites it as urgent.  The late Benard Martin Kadima is the uncle to Priscilla OPARANYA former First Lady and spouce to Governor Whyclifre Oparanya.  The order, to be served upon Butula Mortuary as the second respondent sets 16th as the hearing date where all parties including the first respondent Christopher Kadima will be present.  Apparently, the deceased transferred the contested parcel of land to himself then later to his son without succession.  The brother, the Plaintiff here, is living on land without a title deed.
